BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The state's corrections department is issuing arrest warrants for about 45 registered sex offenders who can't be located after the hurricanes.

Corrections Secretary Richard Stalder today told lawmakers on the House Appropriations Committee that about 460 sex offenders were registered in the damaged areas before the storms, and the rest have been located.

Stalder says about 25 percent of those on probation or parole in the parishes of Orleans, St. Bernard and Plaquemines have been accounted for -- or about one thousand of the four-thousand people who are supposed to be under state supervision in the New Orleans area.
